Zamboanga Del Norte Hit by Earthquake with 5.4 Magnitude

EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 5.4 magnitude quake in Zamboanga Del Nortel this morning, January 7, 2019.

Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.

One of the latest quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 2.4 magnitude quake in La Union. There were no expected damage or aftershock due to the said quake.

Recently, Phivolcs recorded another quake in PH. Today, January 7, 2019, Zamboanga Del Norte was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4.

According to Phivolcs, the quake that jolted a part of Zamboanga Del Norte was located 07.87°N, 121.82°E – 036 km N 80° W of Baliguian at 11:11:51 am. The quake was tectonic in origin and it has a 052 km. depth of focus.

Intensity II was felt in Dipolog City, Manukan Zamboanga Del Norte while Intensity III was felt in Sindangan and Labason, Zamboanga Del Norte.

Intensity IV was felt in Zamboanga City; Liloy, Zamboanga Del Norte and Intensity V was felt in Siocon, Zamboanga Del Norte.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that there are expected aftershock and damage caused by the quake.
