PCG Allows Resumption of Boat Trips As Typhoon “Usman” Weakens

BOAT TRIPS – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) allowed the resumption of boat trips as Typhoon “Usman” weakens.

Recently, several boat trips in certain areas in the Philippines were cancelled due to Typhoon Usman. It was expected to bring moderate to heavy rains.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has even raised a tropical cyclone warning signal no.1 in several areas in the country due to Usman.

Typhoon Usman was also expected to intensify into a tropical storm before it will make a landfall in Eastern Samar. It was eyed to cross Leyte, Panay Island, Sulu Sea, Palawan, and the West Philippine Sea.

For the safety of everyone, the cancellation of the boat trips in the different ports in the country was implemented. Passengers in Bicol were stranded due to the suspension of the trips.

TD Usman hit Eastern Samar and then weakened. From being a tropical depression, it weakened to a low pressure area which prompted the PCG to allow the resumption of boat trips.

Based on a social media post on the Twitter account of People’s Television, the PCG stressed that no storm warning signal is up in any part of the country now.

More than 20,000 passengers were stranded in ports due to the cancellation of the trips because of Usman.

Based on the report, Bicol has the most number of stranded passengers which could reach 8,000 and then followed by Visayas with 5,000 stranded boat passengers.

Keep safe everyone. We’ll keep you posted for further details or updates regarding Usman.
