Kakai Bautista slams CHED over the exclusion of Panitikan.
PANITIKAN – The famous comedienne Kakai Bautista slams CHED or the Commission on Higher Education after excluding the Panitikan as a core subject.
In a previous article, it was last 2017 when the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Korean Embassy in the Philippines signed a memorandum to teach the Korean language in public schools.
Accordingly, this “aims to enhance the skills and abilities of the Filipino students when it comes to speaking, writing, listening, and reading in the Korean language through the help of SPFL.”
And now, the Supreme Court declared in a CHED memorandum to reduce the general education curriculum to a minimum of 36 units. CHEd’s Memorandum Order No. 20 Series of 2013 considered Filipino and Panitikan as no longer a core subject.
University and college professors, national artists and lawmakers grouped under Alyansa ng Mga Tagapagtanggol ng Wikang Filipino (Tanggol Wika) have expressed their dismay about the matter.
Even the comedienne Kakai Bautista also did not falter to express her reaction over the matter in social media. She wrote, “Oo we love Korea, Koreans. Their telenovelas, their food. Their pop superstars. I don’t hate them. I am actually a fan. PERO sana po @PhCHED wag naman nating gawin to. Pls. don’t let them invade our own culture. Cut Panitikan to teach korean language. NO!!!”
Tingnan nyo, Ang UNLAD nila.”
A lot of netizens have the same sentiments with the comedienne. They have insisted the Philippine education should also prioritize our own culture and language and be not ashamed of it.
