Sandiganbayan Finds Former First Lady Imelda Marcos Guilty of 7 Counts of Graft

IMELDA MARCOS – Sandiganbayan found former First Lady Imelda Marcos guilty of seven counts of graft.

For decades, the Marcoses have been facing lots of allegations and accusations. Even the burial of the family’s patriarch, the late former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., in the Heroes’ cemetery faced lots of issues.

The late former President left behind former First Lady and incumbent Ilocos Norte Representative Imelda Marcos and their children.

Two Marcoses children are also inclined to politics – former Senator Bongbong Marcos and Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos.

Until now, the Marcoses are still facing issues related to the term of the late former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr. His wife, former First Lady Imelda Marcos, is also facing allegations of graft.

Recently, the Sandiganbayan has released its findings over the allegations against the Ilocos Norte Representative.

Based on a report on GMA News, the Sandiganbayan found former First Lady and Ilocos Nort Representative Imelda Marcos guilty of seven counts of graft.

The court found Marcos guilty for violation of Republic Act No. 3019, Section 3(h). The decision is over her using her cabinet position to maintain the Swiss bank account during the term of her late husband.

According to the report,  the former First Lady is disqualified from holding a public position and she was also sentenced to imprisonment.

It would be a minimum of six years and one month to a maximum of 11 years in prison for every count of graft.
