Jerrold Tarog replaces Erik Matti as “Darna” director.
DARNA – The award-winning Director Jerrold Tarog replaces Erik Matti to direct “Darna” which is top-billed by Liza Soberano.
In a previous article, Erik Matti has resigned as the director of the reboot film of the iconic superhero “Darna” to which will star Liza Soberano.
Matti even has this intriguing Tweet which indicates, “I want to make films where every person that is part of the film is passionately invested in making sure we execute the story in the best way possible. I’m done making movies with people who don’t embrace the project seriously. Passion supercedes professionalism.”
The post is not intended for the actress for Soberano is perfect for the role as she is “passionate and very committed”.

Moreover, Director Erik Matti has stated in his official statement through a Facebook post, “Unfortunately, things didn’t work out ideally for both parties.”
And now, after leaving in making the film, another award-winning director Jerrold Tarog is set to replace Matti as it was announced by the ABS-CBN.
“ABS-CBN and Star Cinema are grateful to Artikulo Uno Productions for graciously allowing Jerrold to do the project. We welcome Jerrold’s fresh take, innovative ideas, and signature directorial style to make Darna’s return to the big screen a rare cinematic experience for moviegoers.”

Tarog is known for his works such as Heneral Luna (2015), Bliss (2017), Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral (2018), Masahista (2005), Foster Child (2007), Confessional (2007), and among others.
