Why is Rey Valera absent in It’s Showtime?
SHOWTIME – It’s Showtime business unit head Merce Gonzales spoke on Rey Valera’s absence in Tawag ng Tanghalan.
Undeniably, one of the shows that have hooked a lot audience is It’s Showtime. It is the noontime variety show of ABS-CBN. Among the mainstay hosts are Vice Ganda, Vhong Navarro, Anne Curtis, Jhong Hilario, and Karylle.
The show is airing for more than eight years now. Currently, among its segments is the Tawag ng Tanghalan. It is a song competition and there are celebrity judges called “hurados”.
Musician Rey Valera is the head of the judges. Among the other TNT hurados are singers Nyoy Volante and Yeng Constantino.
Recently, Rey Valera is absent on the segment of It’s Showtime. The absence of the head of the judges sparked rumors and speculations. There are rumors that he was either fired or he resigned.
Furthermore, there are also speculations that the veteran singer’s absence has something to do with his judging style.
Based on a report in Lionheartv, an executive of It’s Showtime recently spoke on the matter. According to business unit head Merce Gonzales, Mr. Valera asked for a vacation for his shows abroad.
The Showtime business unit head put down the rumors that he’s fired or he resigned. She also added that he is now in the Philippines and he’s just taking a rest.
Based on the report, Gonzales expressed that Mr. Valera will be back in the show on September 1, Saturday. With regards to his judging style, the executive stressed that the judges have different taste in music.
“Since si sir Rey ang head, siya po ang masusunod kung sino ang papanalunin. Wala pong favoritism doon,” she said.
