Tropical Depression Luis Latest Updates Released by PAGASA

The state weather bureau PAGASA has released the latest updates about Tropical Depression Luis enhancing the southwest monsoon.

On Friday (August 24, 2018), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released the latest updates regarding Bagyong Luis.

PAGASA reported that Luis was last spotted at 1,070 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes moving 7 kilometers per hour (kph) at a west southwest direction.

The weather agency explained that the tropical depression has slightly weakened while heading at the west coast of Taiwan.

The weather disturbance has maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gustiness of up to 65 kph.

However, Bagyong Luis was not expected to make a landfall in any part of the country but enhances the southwest monsoon.

The enhanced ‘Habagat’ was expected to bring rain over the Ilocos region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Batanes and the Babuyan Group of Islands until the weekend.

Luis is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Saturday morning (August 25, 2018).

Meanwhile, PAGASA is also monitoring another low-pressure area about 1,070 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes and might intensify into a tropical storm.
