Private School In Viral Bag Burning Video May Lose Operating Permit
The private school in Camarines Sur on the viral bag burning video might lose their operating permit due to the incident.
Last week, the bag burning incident at the Bicol Central Academy (BCA) in Camarines Sur spread like a wildfire on the social media.
BCA’s hot-headed school administrator allegedly ordered a male staff to burn the bags of the senior high school students because of his disappointment.
The Department of Education (DepEd) could suspend or revoke the operating permit of the private school due to the incident.
On Monday (August 20, 2018), DepEd said that Regional Director Gilbert Sadsad has already sent the initial reports of the incident to Secretary Leonor Briones.
“If the school administrator’s accountability for the incident is established, DepEd has regulatory tools for private schools at its disposal: a possible suspension or revocation of the school’s permit to operate; or disqualification of the school to participate in the Education Service Contracting and Senior High School Voucher Program; or non-issuance of favorable recommendation for tax exemption, like import duties,” the statement said quoted by PNA.

The statement also advised the parents of the affected student to file charges against the school administrator.
It also recommends the school administrator to go on leave for the investigation and relieve the fear of the students.
DepEd assured the parents of the students that the probe will be fair and willing to impose sanctions and penalties towards the school administrator if necessary.
