Environmentalist Found Something Inside Of Dead Shark In Davao del Norte
A dead whale shark was found in Tagum City, Davao del Norte but an environmentalist found something inside the sea creature.
On Tuesday (August 07, 2018), the residents of Tagum City in Davao del Norte found a 14-foot dead Junevil whale shark.
A Facebook user named Darrell Blatchley who is also an environmentalist has uploaded the photos of the dead-sea creature beside the coastal area of Tagum City.
Blatchley conducted a Necropsy on shark and found plastic residues lodged inside the sea-creature’s stomach.
The environmentalist revealed that the plastic residues were Philippine products, which is one of the primary cause of its death.
“The large plastic cup and jello plastic blocking the gills. Had to be pried out. The rest (were) inside the stomach blocking the fine filters of the intestines,” Blatchley said quoted by CNN.
Darrell also said that the dead shark was emaciated and underweight.
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) will take DNA samples from the sea-creature while the rest of its remains will be buried.
The environmentalist captioned the post with:
“August 7 a 14 foot long Juvenile Whale Shark was found dead near Tagum City. The Necropsy was performed and I am angry. In the last 9 years I have done the Necropsy of 60 whales and dolphins. Countless Turtles and a Megamouth Shark and now a Whale Shark. The thing ALL BUT 12 had in common? Man caused their death. Fishing nets, speared, dynamite fishing, and Plastic ingestion. Nothing changes. The posts get shared. You get the sad faces ?? but then the trash still gets dropped. Cause of Death for the Whale Shark??? First picture shows the first piece pulled from the stomach!!!’
