Tourist Suffers Stomach Problems After Buying Street Food at Boracay

A tourist allegedly suffered stomach problems after buying street food at a popular tourist destination in the Philippines.

Recently, John Joven, a Facebook user, shared his disappointment after reportedly experiencing stomach problems from the street food he bought at the famous tourist destination. The post quickly went viral online and received various reactions from netizens.

According to Joven, he and his Taiwanese friend were walking around Station 1 when they noticed a woman selling spring rolls for only P35 each. Wanting to try local street food and also support the vendor, they decided to buy three pieces.

His friend reportedly enjoyed the taste and even compared it to spring rolls from Taiwan. Because of this, they became more interested in buying additional pieces from the vendor.

However, a few hours later, both of them reportedly started feeling unwell. Around four hours after eating the street food, they experienced stomach cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting. The symptoms became worrying enough that John decided to visit the nearest pharmacy to look for medicine and immediate relief.

We almost got poisoned.

Our 2nd day in Boracay was almost ruined.

Has anyone experienced the same thing? (May 11, 2026)

There was an ate selling spring rolls along Station 1 for only ₱35 each. Out of curiosity, and also to help her, I bought 3 pieces. My Taiwanese friend tried it and said it tasted good — similar to the spring rolls in Taiwan — so he immediately looked for ate again to buy more.

However, after around 4 hours, we both started feeling discomfort. We experienced stomach cramps, frequent diarrhea, and vomiting. As a precaution, I went to the nearest pharmacy to ask for immediate relief.

Please be careful when buying street food, especially under the heat.
