Local Authorities Ask Residents Near Marikina River To Evacuate

MARIKINA RIVER – The local authorities in Marikina are asking the residents near the Marikina river to leave their houses and moved to evacuation centers following the raising of the alarm on the water level.

Several areas in the Philippines are experiencing a rainy weather until now due to Tropical Depression ‘Henry’. Several local government units have already announced the suspension of cl(–foul word(s) removed–) in their areas for the safety of the students.

Based on a report, aside from the suspension of cl(–foul word(s) removed–), the bad weather also caused the cancelation of certain flights. At least two flights have been canceled by the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA).

In Marikina, the water level in the river is increasing and the alarm signal has recently been raised.

Based on a recent report on Inquirer, the second alarm was raised at the Marikina River as the water reached 16.0 meters above the sea level at 1:22 in the afternoon. It is caused by the southwest monsoon which is further enhanced by TD Henry.

The local authorities are now asking the residents to proceed to the evacuation centers. Based on the report, a forced evacuation has not yet been announced as it is usually declared when a third alarm is raised and the water is 18.0 meters above sea level.
