Tanauan Mayor Halili Shot by Unidentified Person during Flag-Raising Ceremony

MAYOR HALILI – Tanauan City, Batangas Mayor Antonio Halili’s daughter Angeline reacted to the remarks of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte about the death of her father.

The family, friends, and supporters of Mayor Halili were left with broken hearts by the unexpected passing of the politician. They are seeking justice over his death. the city mayor was shot by an unidentified person during a flag ceremony.

The politician, together with the employees of the city hall and the other government officials, were standing in front of the city hall when the unexpected incident happened. Based on a report, actual footage of the incident showed the people running and the mayor falling to the ground.

There were men who helped Mayor Halili and he was carried inside a vehicle. However, he was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

Based on a recent report on PhilStar, one of those who reacted on the death of Mayor Halili is Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. In a speech in Maasin, Southern Leyte on Monday, the President expressed his speculation that the mayor is involved in drugs.

“Earlier, it’s Halili [of] Batangas. His procession of drug suspects was just a front. It’s him,” he said.

Speaking to ABS-CBN’s Umagang Kay Ganda, Mayor Halili’s daughter Angeline revealed her side on the remarks of Pres. Duterte.

According to the daughter of the late mayor, she cannot blame the President for saying it as he was given a “wrong information and information meant to hurt and malign people who are doing good”.

Based on the report, Angeline also expressed that if Pres. Duterte would visit them and be with them everyday, he would “know the truth”. She stressed that Mayor Halili is protecting the people of Tanauan City from those who are involved in drugs.

The late mayor became more known in the political arena when he initiated the “walk of shame” which is a parade of people who are suspected to be involved in drugs.
