Low-Pressure Area Inside PAR Develops Into Tropical Depression Florita, PAGASA Says

The low-pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippines Area of Responsibility (PAR) has developed into Tropical Depression Florita.

On Friday (June 29, 2018), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that the LPA spotted inside PAR has intensified into a tropical depression.

The weather disturbance was located 945 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes, moving northwest at 11 kilometers per hour (kph).

The weather disturbance, which has maximum sustain winds of 45 kph and gustiness of up to 60 kph was not expected to make a landfall I the country.

PAGASA said that Florita is the 6th tropical cyclone to enter the Philippines for 2018 enhancing the southwest monsoon that could bring rain over Northern Luzon during the weekend.

The weather agency did not yet any tropical cyclone warning signals but advised the public to be prepared for possible flashfloods and landslides due to isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.
