Pinoy designer won in the annual Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest.
PINOY DESIGNER – A designer from the Philippines brought pride to the country as he bagged the grand prize in the annual Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest.
Ronaldo “Roy” Cruz, 51 years old, was laid off from his job of 13 years at Farm Fresh. He is a Pinoy floral designer from Chesapeake, Virginia. He was, in fact, a top 10 finalist in the Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest before.
Based on a report from the Pilot Online, for the past three years, he was voted fan favorite receiving $1,000 award.
But this year, he made it to the top as he bagged the $10,000 grand prize of the New York’s Annual Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest.
“I’m going to use it for things I need now,” says he who is on for a job-hunting as he got just laid-off from his job of 13 years.
And with the money that he got, he also would like to go to the Philippines to treat his nephews and nieces.
The tedious creation of his winning gown required 28 rolls but last year, he accordingly got 42.
“I spent my time creating hundreds of pieces of different sizes of flowers as well as various sizes of beads to make it more eye-catching,” Cruz said.
It was “a two-piece floor-length style with a beaded halter top and pleated detachable overskirt” and a veil with “double layer, embellished with tiny flowers, small beads, and a partial crown”.
Based on the report, he admitted that it was a lot of work and it took him almost two months to finish it.
“I will continue sharing my talent. I’m still dreaming of first prize, second prize, third prize.”
