Honest Garbage Collector Returns Over P400k Cash To Its Respective Owner
An honest garbage collector has returned more than P400, 000 cash to its respective owner after he found it in a pile of trash.
Emmanuel Romano of the municipal hall’s sanitation unit of Baliwag, Bulacan has initially returned the P427, 798 cash he found in a file of trash to Joel Miranda, chairman of Barangay Poblacion.
Baliwag Mayor Ferdinand Estrella said that the huge amount of cash was claimed by a doctor named Consuelo de Guzman who reported the loss to the sanitation unit.
Romano was presented by Miranda to the respective so he could personally return the money.
The owner said that she wrapped the cash in a plastic bag containing papers placed under the bed.
On the next morning, the husband of De Guzman saw the plastic bag and threw it in the garbage, which was picked up by the garbage collectors thinking that it was trash.
The De Guzman couple gave P20, 000 cash to Romano and P1, 000 each to his co-workers.
Mayor Estrella has also promised to increase the salary of Romano and recognized his act of honesty during the Monday’s flag ceremony.
