From Lovi Poe:

Woke up to devastating news. We lost a good man and my heart is completely broken. I was so excited to start filming with you this February then this happened. The only thing that’s making my heart smile at this sad moment is that I know you’re happy now with God…and that you’re standing right next to the one you love. I am very lucky to have been your actor and your student during those months that we were all inseparable shooting Someone to Watch Over Me. You were more than just the captain of the ship. You were family. I love you and you will surely be missed, Direk Maryo.

From Iza Calzado:

Woke up to some very sad news today. One of my favorite people in the industry has passed on. He was my director for a show called Impostora where he guided me and made sure I would give my best. I remember how he loved acting out the scenes and would really empathize with the character and would get emotional while explained the scene, a clear sign of his passion for his work. He was my dad’s good friend. This photo was taken during his birthday party last October at Pepeton’s. I’m really glad I got to celebrate with him one last time. Honored and grateful to call you a mentor and friend. I will miss you, Direk Maryo. Send my love to Tito Jake and Daddy please.
