Filipino Fighter Geje Eustaquio Wins ONE Interim Flyweight Belt
The Pinoy fighter Geje Eustaquio wins the ONE interim flyweight belt after beating his opponent Kairat Akhmetov in five rounds.
Eustaquio dominated the first two rounds of the match after striking Akhmetov, who scored a split decision win during their first encounter.
In the fifth round, Kazakh tried to control the match after trying to give kicks and punches towards the Filipino fighter.
Kazakh was able to hit Eustaquio but it was all little too late to late for the last round after the Pinoy fighter has dominated most of the rounds.
The 28-year-old fighter won the interim flyweight belt before the crown at the Mall of Asia Arena after the three judges unanimously scored in favor to him.
Team Lakay’s Eustaquio said that the belt he won is not for his own, but for also for his family and all the people who supported him from the start.
“This belt is not mine, but it’s ours. To my family whose had my back since day one, Mark Sangiao and Team Lakay, who never doubted me that I’d stand like this tonight — this is not mine, but ours,” Eustaquio said quoted by Philstar.
