The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) confirmed that a Magnitude 3.9 earthquake hit Calayan in Cagayan on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at exactly 1:11 p.m.
According to its latest earthquake bulletin, the 3.9 Magnitude earthquake which struck off Cagayan earlier was tectonic in origin and it hit at a depth of 100 kilometers.
There’s no immediate damage and aftershocks reported as of press time.
Phivolcs noted that Magnitude 3 earthquake is “felt by many people indoors especially in upper floors of buildings. Vibration is felt like one passing of a light truck. Dizziness and nausea are experienced by some people. Hanging objects swing moderately. Still water in containers oscillates moderately.”
