Officials Suspend Classes On December 14 (Thursday) Due To Bagyong Urduja

The government officials have suspended the classes in different parts of the country on Thursday (December 14, 2017) due to tropical depression Urduja.

METRO MANILA – The classes have been suspended in different parts of the country because of the tropical depression Urduja, which is now moving to the Bicol Region.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that the Urduja could intensify into a tropical storm with maximum sustained winds of 62 kilometers per hour (kph) and a gustiness of up to 88 kph.

PAGASA also said that the weather disturbance is expected to make a landfall in the Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas on Saturday (December 16, 2017). It is also expected to cross the Southern Luzon over the weekend.

The officials also suspended the pre-school and kindergarten classes as the weather bureau has raised tropical cyclone signal no. 1 in the following areas:

  • Catanduanes
  • Albay – (pre-school to elementary levels)
  • Sorsogon – (pre-school to elementary levels)
  • Masbate
  • Eastern Samar
  • Northern Samar
  • Samar
  • Biliran
  • Leyte
  • Southern Leyte
  • Camarines Sur – (all levels)

Fishermen and small seacraft were also warned not to travel over the eastern seaboard of Bicol, Eastern Visayas, and the Caraga region due to the moderate to rough seas.
