SC Chief Justice Sereno Snobs House Rep. Reynaldo Umali During JBC 30th Anniversary
Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno snobs the ‘beso’ kiss from House Representative Reynaldo Umali during the 30th anniversary of Judicial and Bar Council.
On Friday (December 08, 2017), Sereno attended the Judicial and Bar Council’s 30th Anniversary Gala at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).
The Supreme Court’s chief justice sits beside retired Chief Justices Hilario Davide Jr. and Artemio Panganiban Jr. during the JBC anniversary.
However, Sereno snobs House Committee on Justice chair Reynaldo Umali twice during the event.
At first, Chief Justice Sereno snobs Rep. Umali after attempting to have a ‘beso kiss’ or ‘cheek-to-cheek kiss’ with her. Umali also waves to Sereno, but she also ignored it.
The 52-year-old judiciary head admits that she loses some of her friends during the event because of her picks of nominees for vacant posts in the judiciary.
President Rodrigo Duterte was also invited at JBC’s anniversary, but he sends Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea to represent him at the event.
Sereno was also hoping Duterte would hear her speech but explained that Medialdea is just as welcome.
