Filipino-Born American Actor Lou Diamond Phillips Arrested For Drunk Driving

Lou Diamond Phillips got arrested in Texas.

LOU DIAMOND PHILLIPS – The American actor Lou Diamond Phillips got arrested in Texas for driving while intoxicated.

Lou Diamond Phillips was born in the Philippines, specifically, at the Subic Bay Naval Station.

He is the son of Lucita Umayam Arañas and Gerald Amon Upchurch, a crew chief on a C-130 in the United States Marine Corps.

His mother is from the Candelaria in Zambales.

His biggest break which made him the actor that he is now is when he starred in the 1987 film La Bamba.

He appeared in several films such as Time Bomb, Interface, Dallas, Miami Vice, Dakota, Stand and Deliver, Young Guns, Disorganized Crime, Renegades, A Show of Force, The First Power, Demon Wind, The Dark Wind, Ambition, Extreme Justice, Lone Hero, Red Water, and a lot more.

And now, according to a report from The Philippine Star, 55-year-old Phillips faces charges for driving while intoxicated in Texas.

The incident happened hours before he appeared in Corpus Christi at a speaking engagement.

It was a police officer who arrested the actor around 1:30 a.m. on Friday.

But the American actor got out of the jail after posting bail worth $2,500.

Mark Cory, a police chief, stated that an officer was administering an inrelated traffic stop when the actor approached the officer to ask for some directions.

That is when the officer has suspected that Lou had been drinking.

It has then found out that Phillips’ blood alcohol level was .20 percent which is twice more than the legal limit for driving.

As per the source, Cory also informed that Phillips was actually cooperative.

Phillips had no attorney and was listed that he is a graduate of Corpus Christi’s Flour Bluff High School on 1980.
