Party-list Rep. Harry Roque Appointed By Duterte As New Presidential Spokesperson

Kabayan party-list Representative Harry Roque has been appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte as the new presidential spokesperson.

On Friday evening (October 27, 2017), President Duterte made an announcement regarding his recent addition to his Cabinet members during the celebration Harry Roque’s birthday in Davao City.

Duterte announced that the Kabayan party-list representative is no longer a congressman, instead, he will now become a Cabinet Secretary. He also said that Roque will attend the November 6 Cabinet assembly.

“To make his entrance dramatic, he will be attending the first Cabinet meeting on Monday,” said by Duterte quoted by Manila Bulletin.

Roque, a law professor, and human rights advocate now will be the new spokesperson of President Duterte and to replace Ernesto Abella, who served more than a year in the position.

The newly hired presidential spokesman was expected to join Duterte’s three-day official trip to Japan.

The president also described Roque as his senator during the MAssKara festival in Bacolod City.

China Jocson, the assistant of Abella disclosed the speculation that Abella leaves his position after missing regular press conference at the Palace. She also said that Abella was still the Presidential spokesperson.
