Senator Leila De Lima’s wish for her 57th birthday.
LEILA DE LIMA – The under detention Senator Leila De Lima has this one wish as she celebrates her 57th birthday behind the bars.
Senator Leila De Lima is a former justice secretary and a Human Rights Commissioner and is one of the well-known personalities who is a constant critic of the present administration.
According to the report of the Inquirer, the senator revealed her wish for her birthday in an ambush interview.
As per the report, the senator has stated this during an interview after attending a hearing at the Muntinlupa Regional trial court on Friday, “My vindication to come soon, that’s my birthday wish.”
Senator Leila wishes to be acquitted and be cleared of the charges she was currently facing.
In not more than a year of being elected as a senator of the Philippines, De Lima was put in a detention and she was held at the Philippine National Police (PNP)’s Custodial Center last February.
This after the allegations that she was “benefitting from the illegal drug business in the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).”
And the allegations were strengthened by the testimonies of former convicts from the Bilibid and her former security aides.
During the hearing of the charges, the testimonies against her told that De Lima was allegedly ordering the inmates to sell illegal drugs inside the Bilibid “to raise funds for her senatorial campaign kitty.
In which she intensely denied.
On the same interview, as being state above as one of the constant critics of President Rodrigo Duterte she said, “I always thought and I said it a few times noon nu’ng campaign period, imposible ‘yan. Ilan pa po ang papatayin niya? Na kahit ilan ang patayin nila, hindi po maso-solve ‘yung droga na ‘yan kasi maling approach.”
