Senator De Lima Slams Duterte Ahead Of His 2nd SONA
Senator Leila De Lima has slammed President Duterte on his upcoming second SONA by saying “Ano naman kaya ang pwede niyang ipagmalaki sa SONA?”
On July 24, 2017, President Rodrigo Duterte will have his second State of the Nation Address (SONA). The president is now currently preparing for his speech, which is he already wrote in between of 15 to 18 pages.
SONA must be delivered every fourth Monday of July at the Plenary Hall of the Batasang Pambansang Complex in Batasan Hills, Quezon City, Metro Manila, according to the 1987 Constitution.
On Friday (July 21, 2017), Senator De Lima has lambasted the president on his upcoming SONA. “Ano naman kaya ang pwede niyang ipagmalaki sa SONA? Mga patayan? Mga kasinungalingan?” said by De Lima.
De Lima also cited Mr. Duterte’s promise during the election campaign that he will put an end to the drug problems in the Philippines within 3 to 6 months. She lambasted him for failing to fulfill his promises.
The former senator said that the illegal activities and proliferations of illegal drugs in the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) has resumed, but Duterte can’t still resolve the issue. She also stressed out that the president allowed the drug convicts to testify against her, instead of placing them under maximum security.
The former justice e secretary brought up the unresolved issues such as heavy traffic in Metro Manila, contractualization, and salary hike for security personnel. She also questioned the president of what can he boast on his upcoming SONA.
“‘Yung mga may kasong may katiwalian, ‘di ba pinalaya nila? ‘Yung endo, ‘yung sweldo ng sundalo at pulis, ‘yung traffic kamusta na ba, bumababa na ba? presyo ng bilihin tumataas ba? So ano ho ang ipagmamalaki nila sa SONA?” said by De Lima quoted by GMA.
