PH Coast Guard, PH Navy Block Up Visayan Waters To Ensure Maute Won’t Reach Visayas

The PH Coast Guard and Navy intensifies the security of the waters en route to Visayas to ensure the terror group won’t reach the place.

VISAYAS – To make sure that the Maute terror group will not reach the island of Visayas, the coast guard and navy tightens their security to every vessels en route to Visayas especially those from the Mindanao.

According to the report made by the Rappler, after the declaration of the president of Martial Law in Mindanao, Lieutenant Senior Grade Jimmy Oliver Vingno, PCG head said naval blockades are put up in the Visayan waters for them to monitor every vessels that are coming in.

He stated, “They are conducting sea-borne patrol and intensifying their surveillance on any sea vessels, especially speedboats.”

Yet, Vingno said that the terrorist will have a hard time to reach the island of the Visayas through the waters considering of its broad water perimeters and ill weather condition.

Therefore with these considerations, the only means of the group to reach the island is through a larger vessel and the PCG is having a close watch about it.

They are also intensifying their security when it comes to the inspections of sea vessels mooring to Negros Occidental, especially on Bacolod city, its capital.

PCG is on heightened alert after the attack of the Maute group in Marawi and their clash between the governments which prompted to the imposition of Martial Law in the entirety of Mindanao that will last for 60 days based on the constitution.

And they even have a directive from the national command to ‘strengthen their security measures and also for the preparation to any “diversionary tactic” of the terror group.

They also coordinated with the army and police for intelligence monitoring operations.

Earlier, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte announce that he might possibly include Visayas to the Martial Law or even the whole country in case the Mindanao-based group establish a “foothold” there.
