China Calls On Citizens To Leave North Korea
China was reportedly urging their citizens residing in North Korea to leave over the escalating tension between Washington and Pyongyang.
The Korean-Chinese residents that are currently residing in North Korea were advised by the Chinese embassy to leave the communist country fearing that the nuclear and ballistic missile programs of the North could cause retaliation from the United States, according to the report of Korean Times.
Last month, Chinese embassy has started to send messages to citizens to return to China before the 85th anniversary of the Korean People’s Army, according to a US-based radio station called “Radio Free Asia” that broadcast to Asian countries.
The US-based radio station quoted a Korean-Chinese man residing in Pyongyang who had been contracted by the embassy. The unnamed man said that he had been visiting China every couple of months and advised to leave North Korea and stay in China.
As a result, the man leaves Pyongyang and arrived in China in April, which is a month earlier that he planned. “The embassy has never given such a warning. I was worried and left the country in a hurry,” said by the man quoted by Msn.
The warning from the Chinese embassy has been ignored by the majority of Korean-Chinese citizens in Pyongyang, according to the man. The Chinese embassy’s website in North Korea did not appear to carry the warning at the time of publishing.
The United States will send a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier to Korean waters as a show of strength against the North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un. Air forces from Japan and South Korea flew for joint training drills.
This week, North Korea claimed that the US was pushing the region to the brink of nuclear war, which may trigger China to tell other nations to stop irritating each other.
