ERWIN CHRISTIAN VERGARA – A fourth-class cadet of the Philippine Military Academy, Erwin Christian Vergara, passed away at a very young age.

Based on a recent news report in Inquirer, PMA cadet Erwin Christian Vergara passed away on the first day of the month of May due to ‘internal bleeding’.

According to the commanding officer of the PMA hospital, Dr. Sheila Marie Jardiolin, it was on the 22nd day of April when Vergara spoke about suffering from stomach pains.

The said doctor was the one who guided the transfer of the PMA cadet from the academy to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC).

The doctor added that the doctors’ diagnosis of the PMA cadet when he was confined at the BGHMC’s intensive care unit revealed that he suffers from ‘five ulcers.’

Based on the news report, the PMA hospital’s commanding officer expressed that there is a possibility that Vergara already suffers from ulcers before he entered the Academy. According to her, it was on April 1 when the 19-year-old man entered a training course at the Academy.

She added that she went to Alcala, a town in the province of Cagayan, to fetch the parents of the PMA cadet. According to her, Vergara’s mother told her that her son has never spoken about suffering from headaches.

“His mother told me [Vergara] kept things to himself,” she said based on the news report.

According to the PMA Hospital’s commanding officer, after the PMA cadet made an admission that he is suffering from abdominal pains, specialized examination procedures were conducted to find out the illness of Vergara.

Based on the news report, Jardiolin expressed that PMA gave the 19-year-old PMA cadet military honors and his “parents brought him home at 3” in the afternoon, May 2.
