Bulacan Beauty Queen Mary Christine Balagtas Who Was Shot Dead After Receiving Flowers and Chocolates, Laid to Rest

Former Bulacan beauty queen Mary Christine Balagtas who was shot dead after receiving flowers and chocolates from unidentified gunmen last week was laid to rest on Palm Sunday, April 9, 2017 at a memorial park in Plaridel town.

The 23-year-old restaurant and management graduate was shot dead after receiving a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates from unidentified gunmen in her house at 1st La Mirada Subdivision, Barangay Banga in Bulacan on Wednesday, April 5, 2017.

According to a report published by Inquirer.net, her casket was carried by a freight by a vehicle conveying the coffin which was embellished with pink balloons, followed by white balloons and tied to a long line of vehicles. About 500 people attended the burial.

Mary Christine Balagtas is the only girl in the family. Her youngest sibling is 17. Her oldest sibling flew home on Friday, April 7, 2017, from Malaysia.

“You killers are heartless, so heartless. I love you very very much my child. I will miss you. Why did the Lord give me a beautiful girl only to take her this way?,” her mother, Marilou Balagtas, cry aloud before her child was buried.

“The funeral of Balagtas did not close this chapter of her short tragic life,” Gov. Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado said.

Meanwhile, Plaridel Mayor Jocell Vistan said she will be giving P100,000 for those who can give information that would help the authorities identify the gunmen.“This really saddened me [and the murder] happened in a private subdivision. I have coordinated with the police and the [National Bureau of Investigation],” Vistan said.
