DONNA SAGUDANG – A Filipina domestic helper in Hong Kong, Donna Sagudang, impressed her employer after she painted their house beautifully.
Some people were forced to work abroad in the hope that they can find a greener pasture there just like Donna Sagudang who left Baguio City to work in Hong Kong.
Based on a recent news report in Inquirer, Donna came from a poor big family with seven siblings. In order to uplift her family and be able to support them, she opted to work as a domestic helper abroad and now she looks after the family of her employer for six days in a week.
Most of the time, she feels the longing to see her family but she asserted on continuing her job abroad to be able to support her siblings.
According to the report, Donna told Asia Times that it was in 2014 when she arrived in Hong Kong and it was just last year when she began spending her rest time drawing.
During her free time, the young Pinay helper sketches portraits of celebrities and cartoon characters.
She expressed that when she was young, she desired of studying art. However, she does not have the pencil to pursue it as they were very costly in the Philippines.
It is stated in the new report that some of Donna’s artworks were drawings of famous cartoon characters and personalities. She has already drawn actress Jessy Mendiola, singer Joao Constancia, and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.
After her artworks have crossed the social media, the people who knew the Pinay helper then started to request her to draw portraits.
Furthermore, the nurturing of her art skills and as well as its showcasing reached a different level when her employer requested her to paint their house. The said residence is located in Yuen Long district. It impressed her employer’s family.
Indeed, Donna is a great example of how one’s talent and skills can be used in making other people happy and as well as satisfying ones self. Her amazing talent in art is really something that is priceless and would surely inspire other beginners in the field more.
