Nadine Lustre received support from Rep. Leila de Lima in her legal battle
Award-winning actress Nadine Lustre filed a complaint for violation of the Safe Spaces Act and this received support from ML Party-list Representative Leila de Lima.
Nadine supported the ML Party list in the 2025 elections. She was featured in a campaign video of the party list. The actress stressed that she was not paid for this stint.
Just recently, the party-list returned the support. In a Facebook post, Congresswoman De Lima shared photos taken during the time when Nadine filed the complaint that happened on May 21.
“We at ML Partylist express full support for Nadine Lustre as she files a complaint for violation of the Safe Spaces Act in response to the relentless and malicious attacks she has endured,” the former Senator said.
De Lima said that this is a needed step as social media platforms are being used to silence people who are speaking about justice and reform. The representative stressed that they believe in freedom of expression but this freedom should not be used against the truth, dignity, and democracy.
For De Lima, many statements now on social media cannot be classified as opinions but as “deliberate effort to harass, discredit, and instill fear.” She added that this is being used for malicious intentions. With this, De Lima is standing behind the actress.
“We support Nadine. Her case is a stand for truth and accountability. Make no mistake: we will push back against this kind of behavior. Hindi ito katanggap-tanggap. Hindi ito dapat palampasin,” the representative said.
De Lima also thanked Nadine Lustre for her courage and for standing firm, and that every step that the actress does strengthens her fight for a humane, just, and democratic society.
