This is not the first time that an article featuring or mentioning the Philippine President has been published by the NY Times.

Previously, an opinion article of Colombia’s former Pres. César Gaviria entailing his advices to Pres. Duterte was also published on the New York Times based on a previous news report.

In the article, Colombia’s former President stated that the law enforcement agencies and the armed forces cannot win the battle against illegal drugs on its own.

According to him, his administration’s “heavy-handed approach” was not able to completely put an end to the problem of illegal drugs in his country.

On his response to the ex-leader of Colombia, Pres. Duterte said that he is not “as stupid” as former Pres. Gaviria.
