DELEGATES GATHER – The delegates gathered for the 15th meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Senior Officials Responsible for Information (SOMRI).
The 15th meeting of the ASEAN SOMRI started at around 9:00 o’clock in the morning today at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City.
Based on the recent posts on the Facebook page of The Visayan Daily Star, spotted on the event were Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Ismael Sueno, Bacolod City Mayor Evelio ‘Bing’ Leonardia, and SOMRI Chair and Communications Undersecretary Noel George Puyat, and the ASEAN delegates.
Moreover, Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran and Bacolod City Representative Greg Gasataya were also there.
The mayor of Bacolod City gave the welcome remarks during the event while the Secretary of the DILG inspired everyone with his message. According to a post, SOMRI Chair Noel George Puyat spoke before the ASEAN delegates and gave the keynote message.
The Masskara dancers entertained the attendees of the meeting as they took the stage and showcased their dancing skills.
Some delegates of the ASEAN SOMRI who arrived early on the event posed for some photos before the press based on a post.
The ASEAN delegates also gathered on the stage and posed for a group photo.
Based on a previous news report, Bacolod City Mayor Bing Leonardia has previously asked the Bacolodnons to bear with the inconvenience which can be affected by the City’s hosting of a “high level gathering”.
The Bacolod City Mayor also asked the people to warmly welcome the delegates of the ASEAN SOMRI and as well as their families.
Reportedly, the 15th meeting of the ASEAN SOMRI is a two-day event which will happen today, March 22, and will last until the 23rd day of this month.
Around 80 delegates were expected to attend the gathering including the ASEAN Secretariat officers.
