Bacolod City will host the 15th ASEAN SOMRI meeting.
15th ASEAN – Bacolod City will be the host in the upcoming 15th meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Senior Officials Responsible for Information (SOMRI).
Based on a recent post on the Facebook page of The Visayan Daily Star, the mayor of Bacolod City, Mayor Evelio ‘Bing’ Leonardia asked the people of Bacolod yesterday to warmly welcome the ASEAN delegates and as well as their families.
Moreover, according to the post, the Bacolod City Mayor asked the Bacolodnons to bear with the inconvenience that could be brought by the City’s hosting of a “high level gathering”.
ASEAN SOMRI’s 15th meeting will be held at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City on the 22nd day of March until the 23rd day of the same month.
Reportedly, the event which would last for two days will gather around 80 delegates which includes the officials of the ASEAN Secretariat and the senior representatives of the ministries that are responsible for information in the 10 ASEAN Member States or AMS.
Presidential Communications Operations Office’s Undersecretary Noel George Puyat will chair the SOMRI.
The Bacolod City is one of the cities in the Negros Island Region which has hosted big events.
Aside from news reports entailing about the upcoming events, usually, the preparations that are happening around the city send signals to the Bacolodnons that a big event will soon take place.
