The DFA Spokesman revealed the schedule of Pres. Duterte during his visit to Burma.
DFA SPOKESMAN – The spokesperson of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Charles Jose, has shared about the schedule of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte during his to Burma.
The 71-year-old Chief Executive of the Philippines is set to go to Burma and Thailand next week based on a recent news report in Inquirer. According to DFA spokesman Charles Jose, Pres. Duterte is going to meet Burma leader U Htin Kyaw for the bilateral talks.
Moreover, the Philippine Chief Executive is also set to a meeting with Nobel laureate and state counselor Aung San Suu Kyi on his visit to Burma which would be on the 19th and 20th day of March.
Based on the news report, the DFA spokesman expressed that the topics that would be discussed by the State Counselor and the Philippine leader would be about the “mutual concern” on cooperation in political and economical aspects and also “capacity building”.
The 71-year-old Chief Executive of PH is also scheduled to visit the capital of Burma, Nay Pyi Taw and meet with the Filipino community there. According to the report, there are around 1,800 overseas Filipino workers in Burma.
The DFA spokesman said that the President assures during his meeting with the Filipinos abroad that they get informed about the progress in the country and the “priority programs” of the Duterte administration.
Aside from meeting the Burma President and the State Counselor, Pres. Duterte will also meet the Commander-in-Chief of Burma’s Defense Services, Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing.
Based on the news report, after Pres. Duterte’s visit to Burma, he is off to Thailand. He will be in Thailand from the 20th until the 22nd day of March and he is scheduled to have a meeting with the leader of the country, Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha.
The topics that would be tackled during the scheduled meeting of the leaders of the Philippines and the Thailand will be about the cooperation in terms of politics, economy, agriculture, education, energy, and defense.
Pres. Duterte’s travel would complete his visit to the nine countries that are part of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Based on a previous news report, Pres. Duterte has already been to several neighboring countries after he assumed office for the official state visit. One of the nations that he has visited is the China.
According to the report, the Philippine President has brought home lots of investment projects for the country.
