Malacañang: President Duterte’s Bank Transaction History Could Be Publicized

Bank Transaction History Of President Duterte Could Be Publicized, Malacañang Says

On Thursday (February 16, 2017), Malacañang Palace said the bank transaction history of President Rodrigo Duterte could be publicized.

Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella made the statement after Senator Antonio Trillanes discussed the alleged almost P2 billion “ill-gotten wealth” of President Duterte. Trillanes has trotted the issue during the campaign period for the presidential elections.

Abella also explained that they were not responding to Trillanes’ dare, but it is a necessity that the public should be updated on the bank account history of the president. Mr. Duterte also wanted to be transparent with Filipinos, when it comes to the collectible revenues.

Trillanes used the issue as a weapon to Mr. Duterte during the campaign period. He tackled the issue few days before the May 2016 election. Despite his revelation, Mr. Duterte was able to win the presidency.

Mr. Duterte’s camp also released the certificate on the ending balance of his account in Bank of the Philippine Island, but the transaction history has not been revealed.

Abella also said that Trillanes has recycled the issue of an alleged ill-gotten wealth of the president. He also explained that it’s a part of a political landscape. He also challenged Trillanes to file a petition to the proper authorities to resolve his complaints.

“Hindi natin alam kung saan ito nanggaling at bakit paulitulit siya. Baka to avoid some other issues. We don’t know,” said by Abella quoted by GMA.
