DE LIMA – Sen. Leila De Lima pointed out the ‘real problem’ in the war on drugs campaign. She said that the problem is not the Philippine National Police or the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
One of the staunch critics of the drug on war campaign of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is Sen. Leila De Lima. Based on a previous news report, the lady Senator has even received an international award for standing up against the President.
Reportedly, the international award was given to her by a political magazine. Sen. De Lima was recognized as one of those 100 Foreign Policy Global Thinkers. She is a part of the ‘Challengers’ category.
Recently, a news report entailing another comment of the lady Senator on the war on drugs campaign broke in. Based on Phil Star Global, the lady Senator said that PNP and AFP are not the problems but instead the policy itself.
“The real problem is not the PNP or AFP per se, but the monstrous policy hatched in the bowels of Davao City and that gave rise to more than a thousand dead in that city and over 7,000 in the whole country,” said Sen. De Lima.
Furthermore, it is also stated in the news report that Sen. De Lima said that the problem is permitting an anti-drug program which goes beyond the rights of humanity. She stressed that the answer to the problem is to ‘stop the killings’.
Last year, the lady Senator and the President have exchanged lots of intense statements. The Senator faced the allegation of a romantic affair with her driver and bodyguard.
After some time, Sen. De Lima admitted that she had a romantic relationship with Ronnie Dayan, her former driver and bodyguard, but stressed that it was over before she ran for the senatorial position.
Reportedly, the lady Senator was also faced to the allegation that she is involved in the alleged drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison. Dayan is allegedly the ‘bagman’ of the lady Senator.
Dayan appeared to a hearing and pinned down Sen. De Lima. He has also shared a glimpse of his romantic affair with the Senator.
