WATCH – Sen. Leila De Lima gave a short speech during the awarding ceremony of the Foreign Policy’s Global Thinkers 2016 in Washington, D.C.

Undeniably, Sen. De Lima is one of the most well-known politician personality nowadays. She has been one of the most visible critics of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte in his administration’s war against illegal drugs.

For months, Pres. Duterte and Sen. De Lima have been exchanging intense statements. Reportedly, it was Pres. Duterte who have thrown an allegation to the lady senator in public that she had an affair with her bodyguard-driver.

The said bodyguard-driver is Ronnie Dayan and the Senator has confirmed that she had an affair with him. Dayan is also the alleged bagman of the Sen. De Lima who is now facing an allegation that she is involved in the alleged drug trade inside the New Bilibid.

Several people have already pinned down the Senator including Dayan. However, Sen. De Lima does not step back from all the issues she is facing right now. She has continually denied the allegation of her involvement to drug trades inside the national penitentiary.

Based on a previous news report, the lady Senator recently received an international award from a political magazine. She is one of the 100 Foreign Policy Global Thinkers who were given recognition.

According to the report, she was included in the “Challengers” category and the honor was given to her for “standing up to an extremist leader”. She attributed the award to her stand against extra-judicial killings and dedicated it to the country and the people battling for democracy.

Recently, a video posted in the Facebook page Juan Thing showed a part of the awarding ceremony when the lady Senator gave a short speech.

Talking shortly, she introduced herself to the people and as well as her previous designations under former Presidents Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Benigno S. Aquino III.

Sen. De Lima also shared about her investigation on the alleged Davao Death Squad and that she initiated a senate inquiry on the alleged extrajudicial killings in the country.

The viral video has already reached 135 shares in less than two hours after it was posted as of Tuesday.
