Pres. Rody Duterte chided the police for allegedly being corrupt.
RODY – Philippine Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte chided the police authorities for being corrupt. He tasked Philippine National Police Chief Director Gen. Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa to conduct a review on the reinstatement of dismissed policemen.
In a previous news report, it is stated that Pres. Duterte decided to put the war on drugs campaign on hold so as to give attention to the cleansing of the national police force.
Based on the news report, Magdalo Partylist Rep. Gary Alejano said that it took more than six thousand lives lost before the realization of the presence of ‘scalawags’ in the PNP came in.
Recently, a news report entailing the statement of Pres. Duterte against the police authorities broke in. According to a news report in Politiko, the 71-year-old President chided the cops for doing corruption.
In a press conference held on January 29, Pres. Duterte expressed that the policemen are the most corrupt.
“Kayong mga pulis, kayo talaga ang pinaka-corrupt. That’s why I said when I got elected, ‘Corrupt to the core kayo,’” the 71-year-old tough-talking President said based on the report.
Furthermore, it is also stated in the report that PNP Chief dela Rosa has been tasked by the Chief Executive to conduct a review on the reinstatement of the policemen who were dismissed from office due to accusations of misconduct.
“So matrabaho ito Bato. I-review mo ‘yung lahat na pulis na na-reinstate, tulisan iyan sigurado,” Pres. Duterte told PNP Chief dela Rosa.
The 71-year-old President also warned that cops who are using their power in an improper way will be assigned to Basilan and to Jolo according to the report.
Pres. Duterte is known as a vocal critic of illegal drugs and corruption. Since he assumed the post, the war on drugs campaign has started. Lots of illegal drug users and pushers have surrendered to the police authorities.
However, recently, certain issues involving some policemen have crossed the surface. One of which is the alleged kidnapping and killing of a Korean businessman, Jee Ick Joo, wherein there are police authorities who are allegedly involved in the incident.
