Duterte To Mayors Included In Final Drug List: ‘Resign or make a clean break of everything’

Pres. Duterte gave a brave warning against mayors who are included in the final drug list.

DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte warned the mayors who are included in the final list of drug suspects.

Since the election campaign, Pres. Duterte has been very vocal about his strong desire to clean the Philippines from the presence of illegal drugs.

The 71-year-old tough-talking man from Davao City has even promised to end the illegal drug trades in the country in case he secures the highest post.

Having gained most of the populace’s votes, the former Mayor of Davao City became the 16th President of the Republic of the Philippines.

He won the presidential election race versus former Department of Interior and Local Government Sec. Manuel ‘Mar’ Roxas, former Vice Pres. Jejomar Binay, Sen. Grace Poe, and the late former Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago.

After securing the highest post in the country, the tough-talking former Mayor of Davao City started his war on drugs campaign. Since the Duterte Administration took over, many drug personalities have surrendered to the authorities.

The 71-year-old President has always been vocal about his brave reminders and warnings towards illegal drug users and pushers. Many drug users have surrendered themselves to the authorities and the government and its agencies in return facilitated the drug rehabilitation centers.

Aside from the increasing number of drug users who surrender themselves to the authorities, lots of illegal drug laboratories have also been discovered by the authorities.

Based on a previous news report, despite a thick pile of papers containing the names of drug suspected personalities, Pres. Duterte vowed that there is no stepping back.

He expressed his desire to come up with a plan on how to prevent the possible disaster that might be caused by illegal drugs to the future generation.

Recently, a news report in Rappler stated that Pres. Duterte has warned the mayors who are included on the list of drug suspects.

Based on the news report, the 71-year-old President expressed in front of the appointees that he will call the mayors and ask them to find their names on the list and if the name is included, he will tell the mayor that he has a problem.

“Either you resign or make a clean break of everything, come up with clean nose and we’ll talk,” the President added according to the news report.

Furthermore, the 71-year-old President also expressed that he will deprive mayors who are included in the list from their ‘supervisory powers over the police’ and take away their securities.

According to the news report, alleged corrupt mayors appear more intimidating due to their bodyguards. It is also stated that the 71-year-old President has previously suspected that drug suspected mayors are utilizing their powers to protect drug trade
