Pacquiao Is ‘A Bit Tired’, But Still Looked Good
Pacquiao Is ‘A Bit Tired’ – Coach Freddie Roach thinks that his student, eight-division world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao is ‘a bit tired’ because of the activities he is doing outside the ring.
Manny Pacquiao, after his retirement last April, became a senator in the Philippines and has been attending sessions at the senate since day one.
Pacquiao is preparing for a comeback fight against WBO Welterweight champion Jessie Vargas to be held on November 5 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In a report by GMA News, Pacquiao impressed his legendary trainer after sparring for ten rounds on Saturday but, Roach felt that Pacquiao looked “a little tired”.
Roach said that this is because of his two jobs, but, he said that it was a “productive week” still.
“We had a good week, overall it was a productive week. He’s a little bit tired, he has two jobs, but we got through ten rounds [of sparring]. He looked good in the first six, the second guy [he sparred with] really wasn’t that experienced so Manny didn’t try to hurt him at all,” Roach said as quoted in the report.
The Hall of Fame trainer clarified that they still have more days to spar before the said fight against a younger boxer.
“We’ll spar next week then Saturday night (October 22) we get on our plane. We have more days of sparring and he can still improve his performance. He’s a little bit tired but those things happen especially when you have two jobs,” he said.
The report added that Pacquiao’s team will be flying to Los Angeles this week in order to do the final phase of training camp at the Wild Card Boxing Gym.
The coach said that his student still has the time to get to his 100-percent before the scheduled fight as “his focus is 100% on boxing.”
