Incoming presidential son Paolo Duterte, the Vice Mayor of Davao City was apprehended for overspeeding by the city’s Land Transportation Office early Friday morning in Bangkal, Davao City. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte shared his experienced on his official Facebook account showing a photo of a Temporary Operator’s Permit (TOP) from the LTO indicating his 57kph speed.
The streets of Bangkal, Davao City has a speed limit maximum of 40kph but the Vice Mayor’s speed was way above the limit and despite his position as the Vice Mayor of the city, he didn’t escape the speed gun of the enforcers manning the streets.
According to the son of Pres. Rody Duterte, it was his first time be apprehended in Davao City, which is considered as one of the only city in the Philippines implementing the 40kph speed limit within the vicinity of the city center.
Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte also revealed on his Facebook post the main reasons why he was speeding during that time because he feared for his wife which urged him to go home that fast. He was quoted saying “Pandamay ning ga dali ta ug uli kay suko na si Kumander ( I needed to go home fast, my wife is now angry) said Duterte.
Netizens were quick to react with the gestures of the presidential son that despite his position as local government officials and a member of the incoming first family he did not refused apprehension from officers of the LTO in Davao City.
Aside from Pulong Duterte, her sister the incoming Mayor of Davao City, Inday Sara also experienced the same apprehension due to speed limit two years ago. Only in Davao City that the public officials never failed to follow the law and Paolo Duterte’s apprehension in Davao City proved further that the Philippines is indeed willing to accept the change that is coming.
