Mayor Rody Duterte who will be called as Pres. Duterte in the next few days revealed some of the details of his conversations with his rival and fellow presidential aspirant Sen. Grace Poe before the daughter of Fernando Poe Jr. conceded in the hotly-contested presidential race. In an exclusive interview with Pastor Quiboloy’s TV channel, the senator called Duterte before she conceded on national TV.
During the interview Pres. Duterte was quoted as saying “She was gracious enough to call me and said that in a few hours she’d go on TV or go on public that she’s conceding,” Duterte said. “She thanked me.”
Duterte said he and Poe shared a light moment during their conversation. “Sabi niya, ‘Ikaw mayor ha… (Tinawag mo kong) Amerikano, iyung vice-president mo, tignan mo mukha niya, (mukhang) Amerikano,'” Duterte narrated in jest. “Maldita itong si Grace.”
According to Mayor Duterte he accepted Sen. Grace Poe’s concession and vowed to support the advocacy of the senator. Mayor Dutere added further that “Since you go for the handshake, I accept it with humility. I can work with you. Paborito mo is electoral reforms, I will go for it, I will support it. Wala ho kayong problema sa akin. Consider me as your servant,” he said of his conversation with the senator.
The 71-year-old Mayor Duterte also stated that if Sen. Grace Poe needs to seek him out, he will personally go to her office in the Sentae, instead of the lawmaker going to the Palace. When Mayor Duterte was asked about his opposition to Sen. Grace Poe, the mayor noted that he was just standing his ground as a lawyer.
