Tristan Jacobson Sells Lemonade To Raise Funds For His Own Adoption
Nine-year-old Tristan Jacobson set up his own lemonade stand outside their home in Springfield, Missouri in order to raise funds for his own adoption. The money is said to be spent on the legal fees needed.
According to ABC News, Tristan Jacobson is selling bottles of lemonade during the weekends and customers are paying him and leaving donations too.
According to Donnie Davis, Tristan’s guardian, Tristan really wanted the adoption really badly.
The legal fees needed for the adoption can cause around $10,000 and Davis and her husband could not afford.
In order to contribute, the couple did downgrade anything that could expense them. They did get a cheaper internet and television plan, cheaper cell phone service, and even cancelling summer vacation plans. They are also looking forward to a yard sale.
There is also a fundraiser opened at YouCaring.com called “Tristan’s Adoption Fund” created by Donnie to help Tristan.
This is what Donnie wrote in the fundraiser:
“Tristan lived with us from 3 months until he was 2 1/2 years old. At that time, bio mom had her own place, was going to school, and working. So from looking outside in, everything looked legit. She also, had another child and was providing for that child just fine. So Tristan went with her full time. I still kept in close contact with his life.”
Now, according to Springfield News Leader, the effort that the family has paid off since the lemonade stand of Tristan Jacobson raised about $7,100. Then, the fundraiser they started on YouCaring.com now has $16, 192 as of writing. This really surpassed what they’re looking at.
“There’s not enough words to say ‘thank you’ to everyone who has shown support or given us donations,” said Davis.
“Everyone has made this possible. We will make sure this child will forever be ours,” she added.
She also said that the extra money will go to Tristan’s education.
