The widow of the late DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo, Rep. Leni Robredo has finally agreed to be the running mate or Vice President of the Liberal Party’s standard bearer, former DILG Secretary Mar Roxas. According to three highly placed sources from the administration party, Rep. Robredo is scheduled to be proclaimed today by Pres. Aquino as the LP vice presidential candidate at Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan City.
The proclamation of Rep. Leni Robredo as Vice President of the Liberal Party will be held during the announcement of the administration party’s senatorial candidates for the 2016 national elections. Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan City was the same venue where presidential candidate Mar Roxas was anointed by President Aquino on July 31 as LP standard-bearer.
Rep. Leni Robredo’s decision to run for Vice President was not made to the public, but is already known to her allies in Naga City. Some sources noted that about 40 of Rep. Robredo’s supporters from Naga City left the city on a rented bus to attend the proclamation of Rep. Robredo which be held at around 9:00 AM today, October 5, 2015.
Earlier report stated that the proclamation of Rep. Robredo as Vice President and the announcement of LP’s senatorial slate were supposed to be held on Setpember 30, but the LP postponed it for another date after Robredo said she was not yet ready to make a decision.
The Mar Roxas-Leni Robredo tandem now leaves only Vice President Jejomar, without a running mate but report stated that Sen. Gringo Honasan already agreed to be Binay’s Vice President in the 2016 elections. Sen. Grace Poe already announced her tandem with Sen. Chiz Escudero while Senator Alan Peter Cayetano and Antonio Trillanes IV confirmed that they will seek the position of Vice President of the Philippines.
