Gilas Pilipinas Demolished India 99-65 Finished as Top Seed in Group E (Video)

The Philippine national basketball team, Gilas Pilipinas finished the second round of the FIBA Asia 2015 as the top seeded team in the quarterfinals after they demolished India with the final score of 99-65 during the Tuesday’s game in Changsha, Hunan, China.

Gilas Pilipinas became the No. 1 ranked team in Group E after they defeated Japan, Iran and India with a 5-1 record entering the quarterfinals of the tournament. The match up of the Philippines is yet to be determined depending on the remaining games from Group F.

Gilas newcomer Terrence Romeo of GlobalPort Batang Pier unloaded with 20 points, two rebounds, three assists and three steals to lead 6 Gilas players in double figures against the 61st rank India. Naturalized center Andray Blatche managed to score 15 points while Ranidel De Ocampo added with 13 points, and Asia’s most prominent point guard Jayson Castro added with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.

Veteran Gilas Pilipinas mainstay Marc Pingris finally figured in a breakout game with his 12 points, 4 rebounds an assists and two steals as he led a 23-14 third quarter surge for the Filipinos that allowed the Filipinos with a comfortable 65-60 edge entering the final frame.
