Filipino athlete and practical shooter Elvie Baldivino wins the gold medal on Monday when seems the Philippines were headed for a gold-medal shutout, but she rescued the country’s pride by winning the coveted gold medal on her event. Elvie Baldivino shot 230 points with a highlight nine perfect hits to rule Shooting’s Women’s Individual Precision Event. She won the seventh gold medals of the Philippines in the 2015 SEA Games.
The 34-year-old Elvie Baldivino who hails from Buguey, Cagayan Valley, won the gold medal in the 28th Southeast Asian Games in Singapore after she defeated the host’s representative Norizan Mustafa by two points in the finals held at the National Shooting Center in Singapore after pumping 24 rounds at 50-yard target.
The enlisted personnel of the elite Philippine Naval Special Operations Group, Elvie Baldivino, noted that the SEA Games is her first international stint since finishing second in a similar shootfest in Singapore way back the year 2007.
The gold medalist from the Philippines also joined forces with Franchelle Shayne Quiros and Carmelita Guillermo for the Silver (1,700 points) in the Women’s Precision Pistol Team Event won by Thailand with 1723 on 61 perfect hits.
Aside from Baldivino, the Philippines is also assured of another gold medal as cue artist Rubilen Amit and Chezka Centeno is gunning for gold forging an all-Filipino finals in the 9-ball pool with lopsided victories in the semifinals.
