10 Senators Ink Draft Report; Binay Shrugs Off Charges

(Update)

Seven senators have already signed the draft report on Monday recommending the filing of plunder charges against Vice President Jejomar Binay linking alleged overpricing of the Makati City Hall 2 parking building while three other followed to seal their signatures.

Senators Francis Esucdero, Pia Cayetano, Grace Poe, Antonio Trillanes IV, Alan Peter Cayetano, Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel and Miriam Defensor-Santiago earlier inked the draft report.

While Senators Serge Osmena, Bam Aquino and Teofisto Guingona III followed to sign the report.

However, the camp of VP Binay shrugged off the report.

Binay’s spokesman for political concerns, Rico Quicho reacted Monday about inking of the draft of the report.

“The signing by the senators of the committee report does not necessarily equate to the culpability of the Vice President,” he said in a statement.

The draft report was endorsed by the Senate blue ribbon subcommittee that investigated the controversy linking the Binays.

Quicho said that the supposed findings and recommendation of the “hostile and highly partisan investigation” conducted by the subcommittee were conveniently based on “hasty conclusions, inadmissible evidence and malicious narrative of defeated local politicians.”

“These would certainly not be given credence and in fact would be dismissed by a competent, impartial and fair tribunal,” he said.
