Getting or continuing college course is a struggle most Filipinos face today. Hamelin Boneo is among the many who dreams to finish a degree but, she is also among the many who find it really challenging.
Boneo, a sophomore geodetic engineering student, is now busy as enrollment season has rolled in.
However, she is having a hard time pulling everything into pieces when it comes to her finances.
The student wasn’t able to pay her tuition fee last semester after her father was rushed to the hospital.
She was persistent to pursue her studies. She texted her classmate Mark Christian Custodio to ask him if she could borrow money for the tuition fee.
With the kind gesture, her classmate informed the rest of their classmates about her problem. They then all pitched in to help Boneo pay last semester’s tuition fee and make partial payment for this semester’s fees.
Feeling happy, Boneo was thankful for her classmates.
“Kung hindi dahil sa kanila parang feeling ko down na down na talaga ako,” she said.
Now planning to look for a part-time job, Boneo will also apply for an athletic scholarship as a varsity table tennis player of their university.
