The latest movie of Vice Ganda “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin” already breached the P200-million mark at the close of the nationwide screenings on Sunday, December 28, 2014. The confirmation of the box office income of Praybeyt Benjamin 2 was announced by Vice Ganda himself on his official Twitter account.
The P200-million box office income of the MMFF-entry movie beats the record set by the current all-time top-grosser Filipino movie in the same period during the 2013 edition of the MMFF movies shown on various theaters nationwide.
The 38-year-old Vice Ganda tweeted on Monday that the movie “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin,” an official MMFF-entry has already earned P201 million after its fourth day in various theaters across the country.
During the Sunday’s announcement of box office income of the movie, the media were noted that it has already earned P172 million, which means an additional P29 million earned by the film from 3:00 PM onwards.
The second installment of the Praybeyt Benjamin series which now features child actor Bimby Yap and phenomenal morning teleserye actor Richard Yap, is on its track to beat the gross earnings of another Vice Ganda movie “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy” which currently held the title as the highest-grossing Philippine movie of all time.
The total earning of the official 2013 MMFF-entry movie reached P456 million during its theatrical run. Aside from Praybeyt Benjamine, the MMDA also announced earlier that the movies “My Big Bossing,” “Feng Shui 2,” and “Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles,” are the Top Four highest grossing movies of the the 2014 MMFF as of December 26, 2014.
The MMDA did not disclose the official earnings of the top four movies but some netizens speculates that there’s some changes with the current rankings of Top Four movies in the box office after the MMFF awarding ceremony which featured “Bonifacio” and “English Only, Please” getting the top honors.
Here’s the official tweet of Vice Ganda:
The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin closed Day 4 with 201Million. Maraming maraming salamat po Madlang People! Lolo must be very happy.
