A commotion happened in the Senate involving Jonvic Remulla, Robin Padilla, and Pia Cayetano
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla blocked Senator Robin Padilla and Senator Pia Cayetano from entering the plenary hall.
As tension in the Senate continues, two opposing forces intensify. Reports stated that Senator Win Gatchalian, the Acting Senate President, asked for the DILG Secretary’s help to ensure peace and order in the Senate. Videos showed that Remulla checked the premises of the Senate before entering the building.
However, Gatchalian did not mention where or who the threats or the possible conflict may come from. He said that this was a preemptive measure.
Based on the video posted by ABS-CBN on X, formerly Twitter, the resource persons of Sen. Pia Cayetano were not allowed to enter the plenary hall for the Blue Ribbon Committee hearing.
With this, Cayetano, along with Sen. Robin Padilla, fetched the resource persons from the ground floor. It was previously stated by newly elected committee chair Sen. Erwin Tulfo’s announcement that the bearing is postponed until further notice.
Then, the group of Cayetano and Padilla was hindered by Sec. Jonvic Remulla. A commotion happened between Remulla and Padilla, as the former was trying to block the door. However, Padilla, along with people behind him, pushed back. Then. Cayetano and Padilla rushed to the plenary hall.
Before this incident happened, Sec. Jonvic Remulla was also present at the Senate building last Monday, June 1, the day when Sen. Jinggoy Estrada surrendered after the Sandiganbayan released a warrant of arrest against him regarding his alleged involvement in an anomalous flood control project in Bulacan.
Remulla also had a heated argument with Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano at that time.
